Gudhjem has two harbours: Nørresand Harbour (North) with a water depth of 3.6 metres and Gudhjem Harbour (South). Both can be entered day and night, allowing for wind, current and visibility.

Hammerodde, Christiansø and Svaneke lighthouses will guide boats in on their approach. In southwesterly winds a strong current can set toward Sandhammaren on the SE point of Scania (southern Sweden).  In a NWly wind a strong southward current sets at Hammeren.

Gudhjem South Harbour: The harbour's light beacons line up to guide boats in at 202 degrees and are turned off whenever the harbour is unnavigable.

In daylight this is indicated by a red ball on the flagpole on the north jetty.
