Shopping on Bornholm
Now, Bornholm is not New York, London or Madrid!
But take a trip round some of Denmark's best clothing and glassware designers, search out the jewellers, potters and the many art galleries - and make your own unique discoveries.
SHOPS Bornholm has a large selection of small, specialist shops with unique items and many of the well-known chain stores for hardware, DIY, kitchens, interior design and baby things. You'll also find large stores that make day-to-day shopping easier.
GROCERIES You can do you daily shopping in supermarkets in virtually all the towns. Most of them sell Bornholm specialities too.
In for example Rønne, Allinge and Nexø the big supermarkets are open every day - and until 8 pm during the summer. In the smaller towns the supermarkets close at 5.30 pm on weekdays and noon on Saturdays. So there's no excuse for not going shopping for the barbecue.
FARM SHOPS The farm shops are a special feature of Bornholm. Here you can buy organic meat, fruit, vegetables, honey and even wine. And then you may not forget all the cosy road booths, which offer fresh potatoes, strawberries, flowers etc.
MARKETS Markets are the friendly way to shop, so test out the many local markets: vegetables, fish, sausages, hams, cheese and honey. If you're lucky you may find fresh, locally grown figs, mulberries and blueberries. And you can often find a good bargain too.
